Our Featured Member: Randi Furtak Attending school at: Robert Morgan Educational Center as a junior in the veterinarian assisting program Horse’s Name & breed: Leaguers Zip Chip (Bonnie)/Quarter Horse, Blue/ Paint How long showing at PASC: This year will be my 3rd year Favorite class to: My favorite class to participate in is the command class because the judge can change it up a little and make the class very fun and interesting. The Board of PASC would like to congratulate you on your winning the Homestead Rodeo Queen title. Can you share with the PASC members what you had to do to win the title & what your duties as Queen involve? Before I ran for Rodeo Queen, I had to find a non-profit organization that would sponsor me. My non-profit organization was called The Homestead Jackpot Rodeo. While I was running for the Homestead Rodeo Queen, all of the contestants had to participate in building a float for the Jr. Orange Bowl Parade which for the first time we received recognition for best use of parade theme (Moon Over Miami). We also went to many other events such as the Frontier Days that took place before the rodeo. The Frontier Days consisted of a mechanical bull riding contest, a square dancing night, and a family night with a Lil’ Britches contest. All the Rodeo Queen contestants got to escort the kids to the stage. To become the Homestead Rodeo Queen, you had to bring in the most money from ticket sales. I went around to an many different businesses and met a met many new people. My duties that I have to fulfill as the Rodeo Queen consist of going to many events and representing the Homestead Rodeo Association. Also in my rein of Miss Homestead Rodeo Queen, I am also thinking of running for Miss Teen Rodeo Florida. This competition is judged on horsemanship, poise, speech, personality, and how photogenic you are. It will take lots of time and effort so wish me luck! My sponsor is called Homestead Jackpot Rodeo. They started their season again on February 20,2009. They offer trail obstacles every 3rd Friday of each month. They also offer barrel racing and pole bending every Fridays except for the Fridays they have the trail obstacles. They hold their event at Harris Field (1034 NE Eighth Street). The registration starts at 7pm and events start at 8pm.
